5 Ways to stay Productive on the Job

This is for you if have spent at least 3 years in your current job. It is possible for boredom or an over familiar routine to get you cold on the job but that’s not what you want to do in 2021, it’s not one of your goals for the new year.

So, I have taken out time to share the following actions that helped me many times when I was caught up in this web. #5 is the KILLER!.

#1 Get used to Goal setting

When there’s nothing to chase, then idle colleagues will keep you busy at the work place, trust me there is nothing that comes close to been unproductive as spending hours of faffing around with colleagues at the work place. Set specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound goals to keep your head up and hitting the desired results you want.

#2 Take notes during stand ups

Your manager is not a kindergarten teacher and don’t make him/her one when you make them repeat an instruction that was given to you because you were not listening and did not bother to take notes during action meetings. Document your daily to-do-list and finish it up.

#3 Be Open-minded and stay hungry

A big question for you is, “ Are you okay with where you are career-wise?’’, “Can you say you have finally arrived at your destination” … If your answer is “Yes” then by all means stay anonymous but if “No or Not yet” then show your presence by going above and beyond in accomplishing your task in the work place – that promotion is not far-fetched, keep the fight in the hunger going.

#4 Observe and learn from smart colleagues

Whether you know it or not, you are bound to meet people at the workplace that are far smarter than you. Instead of feeling inferior, you should get close to them – What did they say about Iron sharpens iron again?

#5 JUST DO IT

I will end this piece with this line; “END PROCASTINATION NOW!”… if you ever failed to achieve any goal in the past, just do an introspection and you will see elements of procrastination in most of your past failures. Never again should it happen, force yourself to start and the mood will be activated to get it done. Again, the first step is JUST DO IT!
